NUJ commends Mimiko on insurance scheme
he Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Sunday commended the State Government for evolving an insurance scheme for all registered journalists in the state.
The union gave the commendation in a statement by the Chairman of the State Council, Mr. Dele Atunbi.
He described the State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, as a good friend of the press who had showed enormous interest in the welfare of journalists.
According to the union, ”The Life Insurance Scheme evolved by the Mimiko’s Administration remains an imprint in the lives of practicing journalists in Ondo State.”
The union also commended the ongoing renovation of structures within the Press Centre Complex at the instance of the State Government.
It therefore assured the government of its support in the government’s resolve to develop the state to an enviable position.
It appealed to the national leadership of the NUJ to name Mimiko as the NUJ Man of the Year due to his unique contributions to the development of journalism in the country.
