The Oyo State police command has busted two gangs of armed robbers, seizing a cache of arms and ammunition in the process.
The cache included several rounds of ammunition, 51 magazines, seven machine guns, charms, among other weapons.
Parading the suspects before journalists, Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Mr. Adisa Bolanta, on Monday, said a member of one of the gangs, Chinedu Nwayanwu, was arrested with the arms and ammunition after the police halted the bus at a checkpoint in Awolowo area of Ibadan.
Only Nwayanwu was caught when the police halted the bus in which the suspects were driving and the occupants jumped down from the bus, taking to their heels.
When the police searched the vehicle, the arms, ammunition and charms were recovered.
The other gang, which comprised four suspects, Sikiru Jimoh (35), Tunde Ojo (50), Lateef Bello (27) and Kolade Ogunwonyi (38), confessed to robbing their victims in a bus they were using for transport.
